The first room that you walk into from the front door of my home is what I call our Living Art Room. It’s more than a foyer but not quite a full living room and the beautiful art that hangs on the walls creates a prominent focal point. I have two large pieces from Wesley Kimler that hang in this space and have recently added a custom piece by Shlomi Nissim which you can read more about here.

The minimal yet inviting design of this space sets the tone for the style that you’ll see around the rest of the house and the simplicity of this room, like many rooms in my home, allow it to have multiple uses.

It’s the perfect perch for a morning cup of coffee, afternoon tea or evening cocktail. Light filters through the large windows creating an airy and welcoming space any time of day. The furniture and décor in this room are easily moveable making it easily adaptable. I often shift around the furnishings to coordinate with the upcoming season.

In the past when we have had events or parties at the house, it serves as a great area to gather and in the summer acts as more of a second entrance as it opens up to the front courtyard. My two Yorkshire Terriers, Oliver, and George, also love to run around in this uncluttered open space.

I find that I am constantly reimagining spaces in my home. Whether it’s an entire room, like this one which can be transformed or just the corner of a room or a shelf, there’s always a new way to update and refresh.
